The Cream range was developed by Denie Hiestand, a natural health consultant, author, researcher and former New Zealand dairy farmer. The main ingredient is Colostrum, with no fillers or nasties. The Cream approached us to create high quality visuals for some new products. We always start such projects with detailed discussions on look development, swapping reference images to hone in on the desired direction before beginning work. CGI has a distinct advantage here over traditional photography, as we can control the degree of material realism. We create physically plausible materials, then add the desired mix of natural flaws such as fine polish scratches, tooling marks and subtle unevenness that create natural variation and reflection distortion. We modelled and rendered the series images using client supplied label artwork with packaging blueprints and photos for reference. All modelling was done in Modo with images rendered using Modo's native renderer, while a custom lighting solution was created using a natural HDRI enhanced with studio lights.
